I played many New Steam Games which are most popular right now and i will share my honest thoughts about them here. Also I went through Steam reviews for each game to summarize what other gamers are saying about these. Whether you’re into exploring open-world RPGs, horror, card games, or just something fun to play with friends, there’s genuinely something for everyone on Steam right now. Let’s get into it.

Crimson Desert

Open World, Action RPG

Crimson Desert had one of the messiest launches of the year. When it dropped on March, 2026, players absolutely tore into it, the controls felt clunky, the story was confusing, and Korean players were especially brutal in their reviews. For a few days, it was sitting at “Mixed” with barely 60% positive ratings.

But here’s the thing: Pearl Abyss actually listened. They pushed patches out fast, improved the controls, added permanent mounts after a controversy about temporary ones, and even removed some AI-generated assets people noticed. The result? The game climbed all the way up to “Very Positive” and crossed 4 million copies sold in its first week. People who stuck around or jumped in after the patches started falling in love with it.

And honestly, I get why. The world is massive and gorgeous. Combat gets really satisfying once it clicks. The traversal, climbing, gliding, riding dragons, is genuinely fun. The sound design is incredible. The biggest criticism that still sticks is the story, which jumps all over the place and never quite holds together. But as a sandbox? This game is hard to put down.

Resident Evil Requiem

Survival Horror, Action

This game is a monster. Resident Evil Requiem launched on February 27, 2026, and broke franchise records almost immediately, it peaked at over 344,000 concurrent players on Steam, which is more than double what RE4 Remake managed. That tells you everything about how anticipated this was.

And it mostly delivered. You play as two characters, Grace Ashcroft, an FBI analyst who is completely out of her depth, and Leon S. Kennedy, who brings the action-movie energy fans love. Grace’s sections are genuinely terrifying. The game builds dread through atmosphere and sound rather than cheap jump scares, and there are moments in the hospital and basement areas that had me holding my breath. The environments are stunning, and the whole thing runs really well on PC.

The criticisms that do come up are fair: the second half with Leon is more action than horror and loses some of the tension, boss fights are a bit easy, and the story stumbles a little toward the end. But the overall package is still one of the best Resident Evil games ever made. Over 96% of reviewers recommend it. That’s almost unheard of for a major release.

Slay the Spire 2

Roguelike, Deckbuilder, Early Access

Probably Indie game of the year. Slay the Spire 2 launched on March 2026, and absolutely exploded. It peaked at over 570,000 concurrent players, which is wild for an indie title from a small studio. The original Slay the Spire launched with 193 players back in 2017. That’s a 90,000% increase.

The game is everything fans of the original could ask for. Five characters (two brand new), a new co-op mode for up to four players, a Timeline story system that reveals lore across runs, card modifiers, new relics, and a mountain of content, all for the same $25 price point as the first game. There are no micro-transactions, no DLC shenanigans. Just a great game.

There was some drama when the first balance patch dropped and caused thousands of negative reviews overnight, players were upset about nerfs to certain builds. But the devs handled it well, rolled back some changes, and explained their process. The all-time score sits at 95% positive, and over half of the 4.6 million players have already crossed the 20-hour mark. That’s the sign of a game people genuinely can’t put down.

Is Slay the Spire 2 better than the first?

This is the gold standard of card based roguelike games. If you like card games, strategy, or roguelikes, this is probably the best $25 you can spend on Steam right now. It’s only going to get better as they add more content.

Mewgenics

Turn-Based Tactics, Roguelite, Cats

This one flew under the radar for a lot of people but it absolutely shouldn’t have. Mewgenics is from Edmund McMillen, the guy who made The Binding of Isaac and Super Meat Boy, and after 7 years in development, it launched on February 10, 2026, and immediately became one of the best-reviewed games of the year.

The concept sounds ridiculous: you breed genetically mutated cats, give them classes like Fighter, Mage, or Tank, and send them on turn-based tactical adventures. But underneath the gross-out humor and cat chaos is one of the deepest strategy games I’ve played in years. The genetics system alone could keep you busy for dozens of hours.

It recouped its entire 7-year development cost in just 3 hours of launch sales and sold over 1 million copies in its first week. The humor is dark and weird, and some people bounce off the aesthetic, but if you give it a chance, there’s a genuinely landmark roguelike hiding in here.

My Mewgenics Review

its not for kids, but If you like Binding of Isaac, XCOM style tactics, or roguelikes in general, play this. It’s one of the best indie games in years, and the cats are weirdly adorable even when they’re fighting to the death.

Super Battle Golf

Multiplayer, Party Game, Sports

This game only costs almost nothing and it somehow ended up being one of the most fun multiplayer experiences of this year. Super Battle Golf is golf, except everyone plays at the same time, and you can hit your friends with your ball, ram them with a golf cart, or fire an orbital laser across the map.

Developed by a small team at Brimstone, the game sold 1 million copies in a month after launch. The developer jumped into player lobbies to play with the community and has been actively working on content updates. A new biome is already on the way.

The simultaneous play format is the key, there’s no waiting around for your turn. You’re always in the action, always trying to sabotage someone, always laughing at what just happened. It can feel repetitive solo, but with friends online it is genuinely brilliant.

My Super Battle Golf Multiplayer Review

Best cheap game on Steam right now. Grab it, get 4 friends together, and your night is sorted. Fair warning: friendships may or may not survive the experience. this is probably the most fun multiplayer game on our list of best Steam games right now.

Marathon

Extraction Shooter, PvPvE, Multiplayer

Marathon is Bungie’s first brand-new game in almost a decade, and it’s a polarizing one. It launched March 2026, as a PvPvE extraction shooter set on the lost colony of Tau Ceti IV. Think Escape from Tarkov, but with Bungie’s legendary gunfeel and a sick sci-fi art style instead of military realism.

if you’re a hardcore extraction shooter fan who’s willing to invest time learning the systems, Marathon is one of the best games in the genre right now. The gunplay feels exactly like you’d expect from Bungie, weighty, responsive, and satisfying. The atmosphere is unlike anything else out there. And once things click, the loop is incredibly addictive.

But the game has struggled to hold its casual audience. The UI was confusing at launch, the onboarding is brutal, and there were some sketchy monetization choices from day one. If you’re not already into extraction shooters, this might not be the entry point.

Who should play Marathon

If you loved ARC Raiders or extraction shooters, give Marathon a shot, it has a great gameplay loop. If you’re looking for something casual and easy to pick up, this probably isn’t the game for you right now.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach

Action, Open World, Hideo Kojima

PC players finally get their hands on Death Stranding 2, and the reception has been excellent. This is port of Hideo Kojima’s sequel, which originally launched on PS5. If you haven’t played the original, there’s a recap feature built right in, so you won’t be completely lost.

The biggest change from the first game is that this is much more action-focused. In the original, the famous “walking simulator” elements were front and center. Here, the delivery gameplay is mostly optional, and most main missions are combat-driven encounters with a huge variety of enemy types.

The open world set in post-apocalyptic Australia is absolutely jaw-dropping, the graphics are genuinely some of the best you’ll ever see on a PC, and the game is surprisingly well-optimized even on mid-range hardware. It’s a masterpiece of atmosphere and detail.

My Death Stranding 2 PC Review

Even if you bounced off Death Stranding 1, this is worth trying. The improved combat, stunning visuals, and more action-forward structure make it much more approachable. Fans of weird, emotional, cinematic games absolutely cannot miss this.

Retro Rewind: Video Store Simulator

Simulation, Cozy, Management

Not every great game has to be intense. Retro Rewind is a love letter to the 90s video rental store era, and it’s been one of the most charming games to come out this year. You manage your own video store, stocking shelves, renting out VHS tapes, dealing with customers, charging late fees, hiring staff, and decorating your shop.

It launched on March 2026, sold 100,000 copies in its first four days, and the reviews are overwhelmingly positive. What makes it stand out from other store simulators is the incredible attention to detail. The seasonal system means gameplay changes with rain, holidays, and weather.

The one honest criticism is that it can feel a little short on endgame content after you’ve expanded your store. But the developers have confirmed a free roadmap of updates coming, including the ability to stock video games in your store. All updates are free.

My Take on Retro Rewind

Perfect if you want something relaxing and nostalgic. Great for people who miss the Blockbuster era, or anyone who just wants a chill game to unwind with. The cozy vibes are real.

Ascend to Zero

Upcoming Action Roguelike, Time Manipulation

The concept is genuinely cool: it’s an action roguelike where your core ability is freezing time. When you stop time, enemies are locked in place, but you still need to think quickly about positioning, attacks, and how you use your limited time-freeze energy. You pick from different avatar characters each with their own playstyle.

The combat rhythm is snappy, the pixel voxel art style looks great, and it has a distinctive identity in a crowded genre. this is kind of upcoming game entry on our list of best Steam games right now.
